What makes this show unique is the fact that it runs documentary features, where the show also combines sporting issues which other shows may not consider. The sporting issues cover topics that are least spoken about which is beneficial towards the sporty side of the public because they can be educated about topics they could enjoy and perfect. The show uses point of view shots to manipulate the audiences mind on sports. This means they change the perspective of the mind and body. This manipulates the audiences’ feelings and creates a more empathetic response. A sport programme is a type of show which usually over sports, games, athletes and sports news. Sport programmes would usually attract the sporty part of the audience, where many fans would enjoy the categories of sport matches such as basketball or football.

Current events

Criminal record is a British crime thriller television series which is based on a murder case being solved by two detectives after they receive an anonymous phone call. What makes this show unique is the idea of creating two detectives who are opposite each other. These two detectives are against each other but are working on the same case. The show handles realistic issues, which includes the exploration of racism within the police force. This is an example of criminal issues diving into a variety of social issues and is also an example of representation of the real world. A current events programme is a show that covers what happens in the real world. This may include politics or social issues, where many programmes may explore crime or racism. Current event programmes include people with experience who can talk about social issues and give the audience different viewpoints.

Lifestyle

The fit and fearless category under the lifestyle category expands on the health hacks useful towards the public. What makes this show unique is the motivational text It uses to embrace the audience’s confidence. An example to support this is “When it comes to diet and exercise, changing our habits can be daunting, but fear not!”. This category on BBC Radio 4 covers all the tips the audience needs to make themselves better and productive. The use of images makes it easier for the audience to understand what the context is about. It also makes it more interesting using vibrant colours.  A lifestyle programme covers the ideas which explore everyday life. For example, health, cooking or travelling. These types of programmes are usually set to inspire the audience, as well as entertaining them about different lifestyles and trends.

Dramatizations

The Archers programme contains overuse of dialogue. This adds a sense of dramatization as the more dialogue there is, the more it will overwhelm the audience. Too much dialogue from an episode can get boring to the point where the audience would not want to listen to the radio anymore. A benefit of dialogue is that it creates emotion and tension between the characters, building up suspense of a key event. This makes The Archers unique because the overuse of dialogue can express how a character feels. A character’s distinct voice reflects their traits and their personality. A dramatization programme is a show aimed to bring stories to life through acting and performing. For example, it would take a written story and turn it into a visual experience where actors would perform and perfect the story for the audience to watch.
